A LEED-Silver Certified Consolidated Campus
The Logos Academy operates a vibrant learning community of more than 250 students in grades K-12. However, the inefficiencies of coordinating two separate campuses led the academy to seek a location for a new, united facility. For their new home, they selected a historic, former paper recycling plant situated on a tight urban brownfield that required environmental remediation. Surrounded by Codorus Creek and York County Heritage Rail Trail, the site plan was carefully managed through Warehaus’ civil engineering team.
We Listen
Serving as a gateway between York city and a residential district, the site drew the attention of local residents who were invested in the sound and traffic impacts to the area. To support the enrichment of the surrounding community, an open playground area was built for use by students and residents alike.
We Design
To compliment its historic surroundings, the design of the school incorporates a storied element of the original structure, a DempWolf designed light tower. The 40,000 sf two-story facility features a spacious auditorium that accommodates a large number of guests, a library/ media center, prayer spaces, student commons area, administrative offices and classrooms for all grades. A cafeteria and commercial kitchen are used for the school and a catering business that teaches job skills and supports low-income students.
We Deliver
The project was awarded LEED New Construction – Certified Level (v 2.2).
