Formerly named the Maggie Walker Apartments, St. Luke Apartments comprises of 496 affordable one, two and three-bedroom apartment homes in Henrico County, VA. It was built in 1982 as a garden style apartment community and was recently purchased by long-term Warehaus client SAA|EVI.
We Listen
Warehaus re-envisoned the deteriorating apartment complex as a community-focused neighborhood in which residents have opportunities for meaningful interaction through purposely-designed and strategically located public spaces such as shared porches between apartment blocks, a central greenway that serves as a town square, and recreational areas for picnics, play and sports.
We Design
A community garden was proposed as an urban food desert intervention and trails and sidewalks were re-configured in order to create a safe, healthy, and pedestrian-centered community.
We Deliver
The interior of the apartment complexes were also upgraded using healthier and more durable materials and the units’ mechanical and plumbing systems were upgraded for energy efficiency.
