In the heart of Lykens, a former coal mining town in northern Dauphin County, PA, both the Hotel Lykens and the Israel Building sat vacant, deteriorating over the years. In order for both buildings to be eligible to receive state and federal historic tax credits, a project was initiated to complete National Register Nominations and Historic Resource Survey Forms for historic buildings
After the buildings were listed, Warehaus continued the project by providing historic tax credit consulting services. The buildings were rehabilitated into affordable housing units, providing much needed housing to elderly and disabled Lykens residents. The project revitalized the small town’s two most recognized buildings and spurred further reinvestment into the community.
